A 14.4 kilometer road from Kaleo to Takpo in the Nadowli-Kaleo District is being tarred with coal to improve its durability.
The road project was part of the critical roads earmarked for construction by the Nadowli-Kaleo District assembly headed by Mad am Katherine Lankono.
The road serves about 30 communities and each time the road got flooded all the communities got locked up and appealed to the government to take the construction of the road as a major priority to alleviate the plight of the people.
The Upper West Region has a total road network of 3,607km out of which about 540km was paved and 344km at both graveled and earth stages. The Roads Minister further disclosed that 61 percent of roads under the Ghana Highways Authority (GHA) were good, while 38% are fair and 1% are in poor conditions. Under the Department of Urban Roads on the other hand, 30% of its roads were considered to be good, 7% fair and 63% are in poor conditions.
