The Upper West Regional Police Command through its Public Relations officer, Mr. Gideon Ohene Boateng has stated that the police as part of measure to restore sanity in the country will impound unregistered motorbikes in the region to reduce crime in the Region.
According to Mr. Ohene Boateng, some residents use these motorbikes to attack and robb people because they can’t be traced afterwards after their action because such machines are not duly registered. Speaking further, he added that motorbikes have been made available to carry out the duty of night police patrols instead of using cars.
He used the opportunity to respond to assertions that some police officers hijacked motorbikes in the Region during an auction process some days ago, he stated that police officers are equally citizens and can buy motorbikes that are being auctioned he continued by saying auction items are things that are being sold and not dashed for free and as a result such things can be bought by police officers.
