Wa Senior High School is one one of the oldest Senior High Schools in the Upper West Region. It has produced several notable figures in Upper West Region and Beyond. The high school is located southwards of Wa.

The School Made it to the Finals of Joy Prime’s Inter-School Public Speaking Competition #ISPSC2021 in November 2021.

There were jubilant and ecstatic scenes at the Upper West Regional Library after Wa Senior High School answered a tiebreaker correctly to book a spot at the national tournament in Accra slated for October.

The two day qualifiers saw the region’s top high schools battle for a place in the national tournament.
WASEC narrowly secured the final slot to join St. Francis Xavier, Jirapa SHS, Kanton SHS and St. Francis Girls School in the 2020 edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz.

Firstly, Justice Yoni Kulendi
Justice Yonny Kulendi is
Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana Appointed by President Akufo-Addo, He Assumed Office in 2020. He was born November 29, 1963. He had his early education at Ndama Primary School before proceeding to Wa Secondary School.

Secondly, Kwesi Nyantakyi

Kwesi Nyantakyi is a Ghanaian banker, lawyer and former football administrator. He was the president of the Ghana Football Association from 30 December 2005 until 7 June 2018. Nyantakyi officially resigned a day later. He Attended Wa SHS.

Thirdly, Lawyer Saeed Shakuur
The Principal State Attorney of the Judicial Service of Upper West Region, Attended Wa SHS,He was A Professional Teacher before he Offered Law and Practiced at Makola.

Fourthly, Seidu Bhomanjo
A Broadcast Journalist with GBC Radio Upper West is a Past Student of Wa SHS, he is part of the 1989 Badge of Students.

Fifth, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo

Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo is a Ghanaian politician. He is the current Member of Parliament for Wa Central constituency in the Upper West Region of Ghana.

He was born on 5 May 1964 and hails from Wa in the Upper West region of Ghana. He had his Middle School Leaving Certificate in 1976. He also had his O level education in 1983 and his A level education in 1986. He also has a Diploma in Economics in 1994 and further had Degree in Psychology in 1994. He also has master’s degree in International Affairs in 1998. He holds a PhD in Development Policy from the University of Ghana, African Studies in 2013. He schooled at Wa SHS.

Sixth, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin
The current Speaker of Ghana’s Eighth Parliament is A Product of Wa SHS.
He was the Minister for Health in the Ghana government from January 2012 until February 2013. He also served as Member of Parliament for Nadowli-Kaleo from 1992-2016.

  1. Mention be made of Prof. Yennah Robert , a product of Wasec n former Lecturer at the Univ. Of Ghana, Legon. He has mentored many students in that capacity. He is also a product of 1977 batch of Wasec.
