Udinese midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-
Badu is likely to be handed the armband to lead
Ghana in Tuesday’s international friendly clash
with Canada, GHANAsoccernet.com has
learnt. The 24-year-old who missed the Black
Stars’ 1-0 2017 AFCON qualifying triumph over Rwanda has returned to the side after
recovering from injury and scoring twice for
Udinese against AC Milan and Bologna in the
Italian Serie A. With substantive captain
Asamoah Gyan and deputy Andre Ayew ruled
out of the friendly with injuries, Badu who has worn the armband in the absence of the duo
during official matches is widely tipped to be
appointed by Avram Grant to lead the squad.
Badu has 62 Ghana senior appearances under
his belt since making his debut against Lesotho
in June 2008. He scored his first goal for Ghana in a clash with Congo’s Red Devils
three years later and has had his goal
nominated for the FIFA Goal of the Year
Award in 2012 with his bullet-like strike against
Guinea.
