A four year old boy from Jeyiri in the Wa east district of the Upper West Region who is said to have fallen on his face and broke several of his teeth was allegedly turned away by the dental unit of the Upper West Regional hospital.
According to the father of the victim who gave his name as Gbolo, he got to the dental unit around 2:00pm on the 30th December, 2019 but was told “it’s almost our closing time so come back with your son tomorrow”.
W93.5FM followed up to the facility and the dental unit was closed as at 3:52pm.
The disheartened father said he travelled several kilometers from his village to the regional hospital, hoping to save his son’s live only to be turned away.
After several phone calls to individual members of the management board of the hospital, father of the victim was asked to return the boy to the hospital for medical attention.
A Management member of the hospital who spoke to our reporter in a private telephone conversation condemned the action of the dental unit describing it as unprofessional and unethical.
The four year old boy however received medical attention at the casualty unit of same facility after 6:00pm same day.
