The Black Stars coach says he has forgiven Muntari and KP Boateng following incidents that led to the expulsion of the duo from the 2014 WC
The duo were sent home from the tournament ahead of Ghana’s last group game against Portugal due to ‘acts of indiscipline’ and are yet to make a return to the outfit.
Appiah, 56, was presented to the media on Tuesday after signing a two-year contract to replace Avram Grant.
“I have worked in Ghana for years and people should know my character by now. I do not hold grudges,” Appiah said.
“If Sulley and Boateng are playing well in Europe like any other Ghanaian, they will be considered for a call-up since I always want the best for Ghana,” he added.
The former Al Khartoum manager also insists he will not fall to pressure from Ghanaians to hand invitations to local players unless they merit the chance.
“I will not bring a local player unless I’m sure he can bring success to the team. I won’t call a player for the sake of it,” he said.
“I believe every player in Ghana has got a chance in the Black Stars team but players both home and abroad will be invited based on merit.
“If you are a local player and you merit a call-up, why not, you will be invited to help the team,” he added.
Appiah’s first outing in his second coming will be a 2019 Afcon qualifying match against Ethiopia in June 11 before facing Mexico and USA in international friendlies on June 28 and July 1 respectively.
