Ghana Black Stars coach Avram Grant is, according to reports coming from Wales, a strong favourite to take the job as head coach of Swansea City after the sacking of Garry Monk on Wednesday.
Monk was sacked on Wednesday after picking up just one win in 11 games with the Swans on 15th in the Premier League just one point above the relegation zone.
Sources close to the Welsh club have revealed that the Swans are seriously considering the former Chelsea coach who is now in charge of the Black Stars.
The Swans also parted company with Monk’s backroom staff on Thursday, with first team coach Alan Curtis handling the team’s training session on Thursday.
Grant has huge experience in English football following spells at Portsmouth, Chelsea – who he guided to the Champions League final in 2008 – and West Ham.
This year, he saw Ghana to the African Cup of Nations final where they lost on penalties to the Ivory Coast.
Grant, who has one year left on his contract with the Ghana Football Association, recently cast doubts over his future claiming he did not know what would become of his future after the end of his current contract with the Black Stars which ends in 2017.
If Grant signs he will work with Andre Ayew who is deputy skipper of the Black Stars.
