Information from authorities of Burkina Faso state that they are about to open the spillways of the Bagri dam. According to the Upper East Regional Coordinator of NADMO, Alfred Saawog, the call is to prevent any disaster since the spillage is normally associated with flooding and loss of lives. Mr Saawog said, though NADMO’s rescue team has been deployed to deal with any eventuality, residents along the White Volta must be cautious not to lose their lives and property. He said; “We have received information from the Burkinabe authorities that the Bagri dam will be spilled today, August 11, 2015. We want to appeal to the general public especially communities along the White Volta plains notably in the Talensi district, Bawku West district, Bawku municipality and also Binduri district that people who are farming along the plains should stop all farming activities until the spillage stops.” Alfred Saawog further urged “shepherd boys and girls who are taking care of animals in the river basin to stop.
