
Students of Bamahu in the Wa Municipality have called for state institutions responsible for fixing street lights to get them fixed to reduce crime and panic on streets and within their residential areas.
According students interviewed by Upperwestmedia Team, they explained that Darkness around the area is most likely to attract miscreants like they had seen in the past.
Assembly Member for Bamahu Electoral Area, Hon. Adams Yahaya Jiga has affirmed that street lightening at Bamahu is poor.
Explaining the development he said the streets become dark at night due to the poor lightening system, he added that most of the logistics powering the street lights are being stolen by miscreants and as a result the Wa Municipal Assembly has to spend more in replacing them, he blamed the development on miscreants but concluded that the Assembly promised to maintain them but due to lack of funds the project has to wait.
The Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih had in the past week distributed 4, 000 streetlights to the Various MMDAs for onward installation.
