President Akufo-Addo in Upper West

The President of the Republic, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has charged the Chiefs and People of the Wa West district to join the fight against smuggling of government subsidised fertilizer by few miscreants and greedy criminals to enrich their pockets.

He said the money government uses to support the farmers with inputs and fertilizers are gotten from the tax payers.

The president indicated that, it is the wish of government to provide subsidy and farm inputs to farmers to increase production of food for Ghanaians and for export, adding that it is time for Ghanaians not to allow few greedy people to use what belongs to all of us to enrich their pockets adding that, all hands must be put on deck in eradicating the pilfering of fertilizer to Burkina Faso.

Touching on the political history of Wa West, the president noted that the party has done a lot in the Wa West district than the largest opposition party yet the people of Wa West keep on rejecting their parliamentary candidates giving their mandate to the NDC stating that “it is now time for you to move from the umbrella and climb on the elephant”.

He made this call when he was interacting with chiefs and people of the Wa West district as part of his two days tour to the Upper West Region.

Meanwhile, the Paramount Chief of the Dorimo traditional area Naa Sohemwininye Danaa Goreh II, welcoming the president on behalf of the Wechiau Naa, thanked the Nana led NPP administration for the programmes and policies that are beneficial to the people of Wa West and the region at large.
He said poor parents are no more worried over the payment of their wards school fees since the president through his Free Senior High School transferred the burden from parents to government.

He also revealed that, the people of Wa West are forever grateful for the many interventions brought to their doorsteps mentioning that, planting for Food and Jobs, Planting for Export and Rural Development and some other programmes have lifted the living conditions of the people high.
Naa Sohemwininye seized the opportunity and appealed to the president to get the major roads of the Wa West district constructed.
He further appealed to the President to provide the Wa West district a Senior High Technical School to help transform the youth of Wa West through technical education.
