Congo will face Black Stars in the commissioning of
the newly-built multi-purpose 60,000-capacity Stade Municipal de Kintélé which will be used
for the competition. The Congolese sports
ministry made the request through its
Ghanaian counterparts to have the first teams
of both nations to open the new stadium which
the GFA has been duly informed of. ”We received an offer to play Congo in the opening
of their new stadium and we are considering
the possibility of honouring the match,” Black
Stars management chief, George Afriyie,
mentioned. “We [GFA] have also
received a number of offers for the Black Stars which we will be considering but for the
Fifa free dates in October [5-13]. We will have
the opportunity to play two games at that time if
everything proves successful.” The match
with coach Claude Le Roy’s Congo, when
confirmed, will come off on September 1 in Brazzaville and will serve as a warm-up for the
Black Stars who travel to face Rwanda in the
2017 Afcon qualifiers four days later.
