The member of parliament for Lawra municipality, Hon. Anthony N-yoh Abayifaa Karbo held a meeting with the acting Lawra Municipal Director of the Ghana Education Service and his staff.

Among issues discussed were the BECE statistics in the Municipality for the past five years, the condition of service of Circuit supervisors, teachers, their problems and the way forward to helping to improving the standard of education in the Municipality.

Other equally important matters discussed were a suggestion to put up a five member committee to carry out a research that will look into the cause of the poor performance of students at the BECE level, put up a report and furnish the office of the Mp for the way forward.

He assured the Directorate of his readiness to do everything possible within his powers to support the office to improve the statistics in the Municipality.
He touched on the girls model school. He assured them that, he is working hard to get the model school for Lawra Zambo area, the upgrade of Birifoh SHS, the construction of a Six classroom block and an Assembly hall complex for Lawra Senior High school to decongest their classrooms and the establishment of a Technical/Vocational school in the Municipality.

The acting Director, Mr Limann Umar who chaired the meeting thanked the Mp for the support given to his office so far.
He touched on the supply of about 3,000 pieces of furniture for the KG and basic schools in the Municipality. The building of a KG for Kuoli and another one at Babile but still appealed if he can get another one built at Babile-Batang.

He did not leave out the organising of free extra classes for students during holidays and the support to his office to organise counselling classes for the final year students.
The Director also appealed to the mp to help the office fix their official vehicle which got broken down so many years ago, got fixed about a month ago but is down again.
The Mp ordered that, the vehicle be towed to the mechanic shop, get it fixed and let him talk to the Mechanic.

The staff present promised to put their heads together and work towards improving education in Lawra.
The Mp in his closing remarks also appealed to to all concern to do away with the partisan attitudes and behaviour of some people so they all can work together to help educate the Lawra child.
Dragging our parochial partisan interest into the Education of these children will not help but end up rather destroying the future of them, he added.
