The Chief Executive of the Jirapa municipal assembly in the Upper West region, Christine Bomannye Amadu, has appealed to residents in the municipality to bury their political differences and unite for development.

She indicated that there could not be any meaningful development in the midst of disagreements and litigations amongst individuals and members of the assembly.
The MCE, who was addressing Muslims after their Eid prayers in Jirapa admonished both religious and traditional leaders to prevail on all disgruntled factions within the assembly to resolve their differences to ensure accelerated development in the municipality.
The Jirapa municipal Assembly has suffered some setbacks following a protracted disagreement that had engulfed its members over the election of a presiding member.
The assembly is currently operating without a presiding member because it’s members failed on several occasions to elect one.
The situation has degenerated, with some members calling for the removal of the Municipal Chief Executive(MCE).
But the MCE said there was the need for all to consider the collective interest of the area, stressing that “we cannot develop in a divided front. So let us smoke the peace pipe for the sake of our dear municipality”.
Christine Bomannye Amadu donated praying mats and ablution cans to the Muslim community and appealed to them to continue to pray for the government.
The district Chief Imam for Jirapa Abubalari Yakubu led special prayers for the MCE.
