
The Second Deputy Speaker of Ghana Parliament and results oriented Member of Parliament for the Nadowli/Kaleo Constituency, the Rt. Hon. Alban S.K Bagbin and his entourage, yesterday received a rousing welcome by the Chiefs and people of Kaluri as a Special Guest of Honour at their annual homecoming get-together.
He was accompanied by the humble NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the Nadowli/Kaleo Constituency, Mr. Anthony Mwinkaara Sumah, Hon. S.K Suglo who is a Former DCE for the Nadowli/Kaleo District, Hon. Martin Lucas Kunbampuo who is a former Parliamentary Candidate aspirant and the immediate past constituency organizer of the NDC, Some past Regional and Constituency Executives who were led by a Former Deputy Regional Organizer of the NDC, Mr. Thomas Mwinibahaara, Members of the NDC Constituency Executive Committee who were led by the Constituency Vice Chairman, Hon. Bartholomew Nambazing, Some NDC Branch Executive Members, and some die-hard members of the NDC.
The event was Chaired by one of the distinguished sons of the Kaluri community, Naah James Sungtaa. In his acceptance speech and welcome address, he explained that the annual homecoming get-together was initiated to bring together all sons and daughters of the Kaluri community, both far and near, to foster unity and to create a platform for the community to meet and interact with development partners. He expressed the luck and joy of the community to have a high profile national leader like the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament in this year’s celebration.
In a brief but touching welcome address by the Chief, he took his time to explain how he has closely worked with the Member of Parliament to get electricity, water and school for the community. The community members could not hide their joy when they joined the speech of the Chief with applause.
On behalf of the people of Kaluri, the Chief presented a citation of appreciation to the Right Honourable Speaker in recognition of his unrelenting support for the community. The Citation was read by the Chairman of the occasion, Naa James Sungtaa.
In a brief speech, the Rt. Hon. Alban S.K Bagbin thanked the Chiefs and people of Kaluri for the recognition done him. He recommitted himself to the development of the community. He pledged to support the community with street-lights and drums. He also promised to contribute to support the community initiated CHPs Compound. He made a cash donation in support of the organization of the event.
From Kaluri, the entourage moved to Kandomwini and Gbankor respectively where similar events took place.
At Kandomwini, the entourage was received with drumming and dancing. In a brief address, the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament honestly thanked the people for always supporting him. He described the people as faithful and reliable, while assuring them that he will always do everything within his reach to support the development of the community. He donated a cash amount to the women group to refresh themselves.
At Gbankor, the Rt. Hon. Alban S.K Bagbin advised the youth to take education very serious. He explained that the world is advancing in light speed and that computer is fast taking over some basic human tasks. He underscored the need for I.C.T education and pledged his unflinching support for the Chief’s I.C.T initiative. He said he will support the Chief with computers but admonished the community to take very good care of them when they come.
Introduction of NDC Parliamentary Candidate:
At all the three get-together events, the vast experienced Member of Parliament used the opportunity to formerly introduce the NDC parliamentary candidate, Mr. Anthony Mwinkaara Sumah, to the people. He constantly referred to him as his son and indicated his unflinching support for him. He explained that he has already introduced him to the elders and national executives of the NDC in Accra. He called on the people to massively vote for him in the parliamentary election assuring them that he will support him fully to deliver development to the constituency.
In very brief speeches at all the three events, the confident, competent and yet very humble NDC parliamentary, Mr. Anthony Mwinikaara Sumah, thanked Hon. Bagbin for serving the people very well, describing him as his father. Mr. Sumah described himself as the luckiest parliamentary candidate to have the caliber of Hon. Bagbin as a father, a mentor and a guardian, assuring that he will at all times work closely with him to take the Nadowli/Kaleo Constituency to greater heights. He said he is inspired, and at the same time, challenged by the reputable legacy Hon. Bagbin has successfully built for the constituency. He thanked the people for their unyielding faith in the NDC and Hon. Bagbin and called on them to extend the same goodwill to him.
