Government has been advised to consider
naming some public universities after some
past Presidents of Ghana. This, according to the Member of Parliament
(MP) for Tamale South and Employment and
Labour Relations Minister Haruna Iddrisu, is a
better honour than only eulogizing them when
they die. “Many of the public universities should be
named after some of our former leaders… and
I think that we should begin to honour them
while they live instead of just eulogizing them
when they are dead,” he said. Haruna Iddrisu made this suggestion on the
floor of Parliament on Tuesday when the MPs
were eulogizing the late President Professor
Evans Atta Mills. In his address to the House, the Tamale South
MP listed a number of public universities for
consideration. The late PHe stated that the university in the Brong
Ahafo Region and Volta Region could be
named after the late Professor Mills while the
University of Development Studies (UDS) be
named after ex-President Jerry Rawlings. stephen-appiahs-tesmonial-mach-mahama-rawlings-kufuor-15-620x330stephen-appiahs-tesmonial-mach-mahama-rawlings-kufuor-15-620x330
