
All is set for Nandom, the capital of the Nandom District in the Upper West Region, to host the regional celebration of the 62nd Independence Day of Ghana.
The security services including the Police Service, Prisons Service, Fire Service, Immigration Service and The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority will be on parade on the grand occasion. Additionally, some selected schools from the basic and second cycle institutions have been selected to participate in the March Pass on the 6TH OF March 2019.
Other Unions such as TUC, NAT, NAGRAT, and other indefinable groups in the Upper West Region will also participate in the process.
The participating groups especially the schools and security services, have been rehearsing in the last few days for the celebration tomorrow.
This year’s celebration is on the Theme “CELEBRATING PEACE AND UNITY” It is the first time the Regional Celebration will be held outside the regional capital Wa. The Upper West Regional Minister Mr. Alhassan Sulemana will be the Guest of Honor for the celebration. The Governor of the South West Region of Burkina Faso, Mr. Taxseba Nitiema will lead a delegation from Burkina Faso to participate in the celebration.
The business community in Nandom is getting ready to cash on this historic event. According to them, these occasions are very rare, it is therefore appropriate to make good use of it to get the needed benefits which come with it.
The District Chief Executive for Nandom Mr. Thaddeus Arkum Aasoglenang, in an interview, said the District is poised and prepared to host the memorable event. “Occasions like these are very important in the lives of the people. In that regard, we want to ensure that everything is in place for the program”.
