Hon. Christine Amadu(Left), Paul Derigubaa (Right)

The 2020 NPP parliamentary candidate elect for the Jirapa constituency has “rejected” a congratulatory message from Hon. Christine Amadu Bombanye, one of his arch political opponents in the just ended NPP parliamentary primaries.

Speaking on the maiden edition of Yeltula  with Barrister Enoch on Tumpaani 88.5 FM, she made this disclosure in her response to a rumour that she was unwelcomed and turned away by the PC elect when she visited him ( Hon. Paul Derigubah) to congratulate him on his landslide victory as the NPP Parliamentary Candidate, she confirmed that the posture of the Hon. Paul Derigubah was unfriendly. She said a congratulatory message was actually sent to Hon. Paul Derigubah, but he replied her with a “certain message” she termed “a bad message”.

She also disclosed that she had placed two calls to the Hon. Paul Derigubah but her calls were not answered.
It would be recalled that the Hon. Paul Derigubah rejected a similar call on him from the Hon. Francis Bawaana Dakurah in 2011 after the NDC primaries in which he (Hon Paul Derigubah) was defeated by the later.

Hon. Paul Derigubah crossed carpet from NDC to Independent after being defeated twice in NDC parliamentary primaries. He left the NDC and joined the NPP in 2017, becoming the polling station chairman of his polling station in Konzokala. He picked and filed the NPP Parliamentary nomination forms and has beaten the ” two native NPP Parliamentary candidates” emerging victorious as the NPP Parliamentary candidate for the Jirapa constituency.

He garnered 352 votes out of the total valid votes cast of 582 representing 60%.
His closed contender Hon. Christine Amadu Bombanye got 185 votes representing 32% and Mr Alex Taabazuing enjoyed 45 votes representing 8%.
Hon. Paul Derigubah will be coming up against Hon. Cletus Seidu Dapilah of the NDC as his key opponent in the 2020 general elections.
