Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery has assured Ghanaians and the people of Bimbilla that the perpetrators of Thursday’s shooting which led to the death of 10 people will face the law if found guilty.

About 183 combined team of police and military have been deployed to Bimbilla in the Northern Region to maintain law and order as well as protect the citizens of the area.

Mr. Ambrose Dery was speaking at press conference in Accra on the current situation in Bimbilla.

He further stated that though calm has been restored in the area, government is not leaving any stone unturned hence the need for reinforcement.

About 10 people including two children were killed and 18 injured in Thursday’s crossfire between factions in a longstanding chieftaincy dispute.

In his address, the Minister said, the National Peace Council will continue to dialogue with both factions since the situation is purely a chieftaincy matter.

“Since this is a chieftaincy matter, it should be for the traditional authorities because government would not interfere in chieftaincy matters. However, government would continue to ensure there is peace and security as we dialogue,” he guaranteed

17 persons have so far been arrested by the Police to assist in the investigations. Meanwhile the curfew hours have been reviewed to 4:pm to 6:00am until further notice.

Also speaking at the press conference, the Inspector General of the Police, David Asante Apeatu entreated the people of Bimbilla and its environs to remained calm and assist the Police with information as the police conduct their investigations.
