asamoah gyanThe Blues are reportedly eyeing a move for the Ghana international whose days are probably numbered at Chinese side Shanghai SIPG

Chelsea are reported to be interested in signing Ghana international and former Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan, who is experiencing an unglamorous campaign in the Chinese Super League with Shanghai SIPG.

The Blues, who now have a manager, Antonio Conte, have been informed of the 30-year-old’s availability.

Shanghai are willing to part ways with Gyan, who has battled injury woes since joining the Red Eagles in July 2015 from UAE’s Al Ain.

The Black Stars captain takes home $350,000 per week, making him the sixth highest paid footballer in the world. However, that could change if he accepts to return to the Premier League, where he could face a huge pay cut.

He played ten league games last season with Shanghai, scoring four goals but has made only six appearances in the current campaign, hitting two goals.

Gyan has scored 48 goals for Ghana in 95 caps. He holds the record as the African player with the highest number of goals, six, at the Fifa World Cup.
