The Deputy Upper West Regional Minister has announced in Tumu the President His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo will be in Tumu for a visit on 3rd October, 2017. The Minister in telling stakeholders locked in educational fora in the Sissala East District Assembly organised by the Assembly did not give a reason for the visit of his Excellency. “It’s a privilege for me to be part of this meeting in fact I was not aware of this, I came here to meet the DCE on some other important discussion: the President will be visiting the Upper West Region on the 2nd of October, 2017, we all want development and it can only be anchored on education, to get it, we need to harness the human resources of the people through education.

Anything that we will do that will affect our education positively I fully support it, the last time I looked at our educational report of the region, its been going down in the upper west region”. He gave a rational behind the free Senior High School as supporting Parents whose investment during this period of the year are locked up on farms.

He commended the DCE and the assembly for organising this programme and was hopeful this will lead to an improved education in the area. Hon. Amidu Chinnia on behalf of the President and the Regional minister reiterated that, the NPP government has already started improving on education quality through access creation.

On free senior high school he says all of us as a country supports the policy the only difference is the mode of implementation” He added that this government has taken the bold step. He reminded parents that the pride of every parent is to see the growth of their children and the property you look for you need a responsible children to take over from you and this can be achieve by monitoring and supporting them with their needs.

He encouraged all stakeholders to double up on supervision and ask all stakeholders to play their roles. He mentioned government resolved to providing the needed resource to the directorate of education especially their vehicles which he described as further weakened by the low subvention but promised to work to improve. “whatever we need to improve education will be done”
