The group described the set up of Universities as growth pool and remained positive that, UBIDS will present enormous benefits hence the ratification is long overdue. Tahiru Lukman said “let us cast our mind back, when the Wa Campus now UBIDS used to carry the number thereby been described as the back-bone of UDS, the benefits cannot be over emphasis, so ratifying UBIDS will restore the glory days”.

We wish to appeal to the government to give more attention to the call on the need for ratification and set up transition team to manage the autonomous campuses of UDS until a substantive governing body is instituted. However, the group described the attitudes of the UDS central administration as ‘unfortunate’ for not coming out with a clear road map to support the course of making the autonomous status takes off properly. The sabotage of UDS central administration to derail government effort has reached the limit of the ceiling and we will continue to press harder to salvage UBIDS.

The coalition of concerned citizens who are also mourning the loss of one the renowned traditional ruler in the Upper West Region Naa (Dr) Puoure Puobe Chiir Charles (VII) Paramount Chief of Nandom Traditional Area and President of the Nandom Traditional Council further appeal to government to get UBIDS ratified as they only way to help immortalized their late father, traditional ruler and a stateman who was very instrumental in petitioning government for the need to granting the Wa Campus autonomous. It is a dreamed he will wished to have lived to realised.

Hon. Alhassan Dauda Assemblyman for Bamahu Electoral Area re-iterated his constituent’s commitment to the campaign to getting UBIDS ratified as a priority. He argue that, residents of Bamahu are key stakeholders and the impact of UBIDS is going to be significantly felt and for that matter it is only proper they get involved.
