Residents of Dupari in the Wa East District of the Upper West Region have gone wild on government over what they described as complete desertion of their community by successive governments including the ruling NPP government.

According to them, the community which is found in the middle of four other communities, Goripie, Bulenga, Glan and that of Chaggu of which all the mentioned communities are connected to the National grid leaving Dupari in complete blackout. This came to light after the residents were spotted constructing a fresh road about 15KM from Dupari to Goripie with hoes and cutlasses to ease their movement.
Speaking to Radio Waa, Mr. Suglo, a representative of the residents indicated that, the community came to a consensus to construct the road on communal labour after successive governments including the ruling New Patriotic Party turned down several promises of constructing their main Dupari-Bulenga road since 2010 after a lot of bridges collapsed serving as death traps.
He added that, the community got to realised that, they are being neglected by the two parties NPP, NDC administrations and hence the need for them to do what then can do while waiting on anyone who might attempt coming to the community to do campaigns.
According to a Representative of Dupari Community granting an interview
He revealed that, major projects including schools, Water, health and roads that are in the community got unearthed by the community members through contributions until recently that government absorbed their primary school as a public school.
Mr. Sunglo added that, the community has been denied health facility and residents again mobilized funds which they used in erecting a building to be used as hospital and it has gotten to a reasonable level but due to financial constraints they could not complete.
On electricity, the residents pointed accusing fingers at the former MP for the Wa East constituency Hon. Aminu Salifu who was then the DCE in 2010 for denying them electricity because of a dispute between him and the former Assemblyman for Dupari electoral area.
Meanwhile, the Ex-MP debunked claims that he deliberately denied the community because of the wrangle between him and the former Assembly member though he admitted having a tussle with him. He explained that, the rural electrification project was been done in phases adding that, Dupari was in the second phase but he could not end it up before he became a member of parliament and the DCE who took over from him did not put much attention on that which leads to the fate at which Dupari found itself.
Hon. Aminu added that, his findings have revealed that, the second phase communities are getting their share of the electricity entreating the people to exercise a little patience while waiting for their turn. He promised to still make some follow ups to ensure that the community is connected to the National grid though his party is out of power.
