Parents have questioned if their responsibility was to provide a school staff bus for the institution and also to renovate a school’s girls building.

Speaking to Upperwestmedia Team, they questioned if the Free Senior High School policy was actually free as being purported calling for the regional Director Mr. Doncan Nsoh to Take instant action against the school for extortion.

A section of parents Added that they were asked to purchase a t-shirt for Ghc5.00 at the first meeting.

P.T.A was cancelled by the Ghana Education Service in 2019 after Government issued a note for it to be dissolved in all Senior High Schools in the Country.

  1. This so called free policy is only destroying our basic academic institutions & children learning abilities

  2. Same in many SHSs across the length and breath of the country. HEADMASTERS/MISTRESSES hide behind the PTA and charge this cut throat levies.

  3. This was a resolution from a general PTA meeting. All parents were obliged to attend. So you were present and you refused express your objection then you have no cause to complain when the implementation is done.
Technically, education cannot be free in any way. If your ward fail you will need more than 150cedis to pay her to sit for private examination. This is a very loadable initiative which should have being welcomed by all instead of being criticised. Who are the beneficiaries of the renovated dormitory. And if I may ask is Lassie Tuolu SHS the first school to buy a Van. If your ward is critically ill and the PTA financed Van convey the ward to Upper West Regional hospital is it called extortion?
Before you publish anything, do well to collect vital information before go ahead. GES HAVE reviewed the way and manner PTAs should be manned in schools. It is not illegal for a PTA to carry out projects in schools through imposition of levies on students.
Go to Lawra SHS, the pickup and Van used for administration and operation activities were financed by the School PTA.
