Prof. Elias Sowley Set to be Inducted

The Dr. Hilla Limann Technical University has formally inducted Prof. Elias Sowley as First Vice Chancellor of the University.

This was done through the Chairman of the Governing council Mr. Suleman Nabile on the 7th of May 2022.

During the Induction, 311 students were awarded various HND certificates in different expertise.  The Vice Chancellor revealed that Bachelor of Technology Programs shall commence in 2022/2023 Academic year.

The Occasion was marked by remarkable memories with several Dignitaries attending the induction ceremony, the Upper West Regional Minister was special Guest of Honor, also present as the Vice Chancellors of SDD-UBIDS, Ho Technical University, UDS, Bolga Technical University,Kumasi Technical University,and Tamale Technical University and other Heads of Institutions Including DVLA GCB and Wa Technical Institute.

The Paramount Chief of Lawra Traditional Area, Naa Puowelle Karbo was also present at the Occasion.

His appointment was effective starting Wednesday, June 1, 2021.

It can be recalled that Prof. Sowley had contested for the position of PRO Vice Chancellor of UDS with Prof. Felix K. Abagale, but unfortunately, lost to the latter.

While in UDS, Prof. Sowley rose from the various ranks of a lecturer from 2001 and eventually became a senior lecturer. He has been the Head of the Department of Agronomy before and was once the director of the Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance and member of the Academic Board.

He subsequently was made Dean of the School of Graduate Studies.

He has taught widely in areas including Plant pathology.

Professor Elias N. K. Sowley had his undergraduate studies at the Cape Coast and his MPhil at the University of Ghana. He later proceeded to the University of Reading in the United Kingdom, where he completed his Ph.D in 2006. In 2016, Prof. Sowley became an associate professor.

He is also a Catholic devotee and holds a great position in the Catholic parish council where he has been knited and ordained. He is currently the National Chairman of the National Catholic Laity Council.
