Area Managers are responsible for each area’s Taxpayer Service Centres. They report to relevant head office Deputy Commissioners who are assigned areas and held responsible for the performance of all tax offices under their management.

There are ten (10) designated Areas across the country with the Ashanti Region as one (1) ; the Greater Accra Region is divided into four (4) areas and the remaining regions being grouped into Western/Central, Eastern/Volta, Bono/Ahafo, Northern/Upper East and Upper West/Savannah Areas. Each Area has an Area Office to properly oversee the Taxpayer Service Centre’s audit and enforcement.

Mr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah is the Commissioner – General of the Ghana Revenue Authority.

The core mandate is to ensure maximum compliance with all relevant tax laws in order to ensure a sustainable revenue stream for government, trade facilitation and a controlled and safe flow of goods across the country’s borders.

With the transformation of the Domestic Tax Revenue Division offices, the new Taxpayer Service Centres report to and are managed by Area Offices.

Headed by Area Managers, these Area Offices bring supervision close to the DTRD offices, and offer centralised audit and enforcement functions. The Area Office is also responsible for providing support staff for all Taxpayer Service Centres.
