The Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Hafiz Bin Salih has called on the regional police command of the Upper West Region to stick to professionalism in the discharge of their duties in enduring peace and unity in the region.

He charges the police to modify their operations to address the changing steps of crime in the region, noting that, there is a changing trend of crime in the region and that calls for the police to infuse certain techniques to flash out criminals.

Hon. Hafiz whiles addressing gathered police officers in this year’s WASSA celebration at the regional headquarters of the police, he commended them for bringing crime rate down indicating that he is setting up GH¢10,000 from his salary to award hardworking police officers in the region come next year. He encouraged them to work hard in combating crime in the region.

On his part, the Upper West Regional Police commander DCOP Francis Aboagye Nyarko in his address, noted that, land and chieftaincy disputes are some of the few security challenges in the region adding that, steps have been taken to address them.

He stressed that, the police has noticed activities of illegal mining in some communities within the Wa West and Wa East districts in the region and actions are well captured to flash them out completely very soon.

WASSA is an annual celebration that offers the various officers in uniform to socialise and do marry making after going through tick and tin for the whole year in the discharge of their duties. Police liveband took over the environs of the police headquarters with food served for all rank and file to enjoy to the fullest.
