The Upper West Region has lost well recognized politicians in different political parties in the past 4 years to unforseen circumstances.

Three Chairmen for National Democratic Congress and 1 Secretary,  4 from the New Patriotic Party,  a former PNC Member of Parliament for Sissala West.

Firstly,  The NDC chairman for Daffiama-Bussie-Issa(DBI) constituency, Mr Poglabon Richard was shot dead on 8th may 2019. Puolabong, popularly known as Chairman Water was said to be returning from a funeral in his home town when some unknown gun men shot & killed him in his car.

Secondly, late Mr. Kuri Suglo, NDC’s Constituency Secretary for Wa East was reported dead on the 29th November 2020 after a short illness,  8 Days to the December 7th Elections. He attended Wa secondary school and was part of the1998 badge, He was also former Presiding Member for Wa East District.The late Mr
Suglo was also the Assembly Member for Jeyiri.

Thirdly, The former member of parliament for then Wa constituency was reported dead on 20th December 2021.

He served from 1992 to 2004 in Ghana’s parliament on the ticket of NDC for Wa Constituency which was later split into three making up the Wa East, Wa West and Wa central Constituencies.

He however also served in various capacities as an educationist in the region.

He is the first to have established a private basic school in the region known as Dan-Ibu International School.

Hon M. A Seidu has battled sickness for a long while before his departure to his marker.

Fourthly,  Late Former Ambassador to Burkina Faso, His Excellency Sahanun Moqtari.

The Incident Occurred late hours of Monday 21st October 2019 has left several people in Shock.

Alhaji Mogtari Sahanun was a Ghanaian politician and a former ambassador to Burkina Faso. From 1992 till 2002 Sahanun served as the Upper West regional secretary. From 2001 to 2005, he rose as the regional minister. From 2006 to 2009 Sahanun was the ambassador to Burkina Faso.

Fifthly, Former Wa Central NDC Chairman, Gbendengeh  Yeri-Naa,  Alhaji Jamatutu Died on the 1st of December 2021 after a short illness.
Several Dignitaries of the NDC attended his Funeral Rites Including Former President John Dramani Mahama.

Furthermore, It was reported that Honourable Haruna Bayirga, a former Member of Parliament for the Sissala West Constituency in the Upper West Region has passed on at 69. His dead occured an the Ga East Municipal Hospital,  Accra on the 11th of December 2021. He contested on the ticket of PNC and as an independent Candidate.

Also, The staunch NPP member and
constituency Deputy Organizer of the
New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Jirapa,
Mr. Zeenamilimuoh met his untimely
death in the Monday July 26 accident
that occurred between Nana Washing
bay and the Jirapa Municipal Police
Station, along the Jirapa-Tizza Road
per reports gathered by Sir Dicey, a
reporter explaining the issue.

According to reports, the sad incident
happened after a collision between the victim (on motorbike) and a heavy
tipper truck. He was quickly rushed to the St. Joseph Hospital in Jirapa but was confirmed dead upon arrival at the Hospital.

To add to that,
DEMISE OF MR EDWARD ABBEY

The Member of Parliament and the entire Constituency Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress had announced the sudden death of our Constituency Chairman, Mr Edward Abbey. He died at the Nadowli District Hospital on 1st June, 2021, after a short illness.

Lastly, Alhaji Yakubu Seidu Popularly Known as Condition Wa a Financier of the New Patriotic Party,  he passed on on the 30th of September 2020 after a short illness,  he was the CEO of Upland Hotel and was also a contractor.
