Church Donates Borehole

It is heartwarming to hear that about 5,000 residents of Vamboi and Kasana communities in the Sissala East District of the Upper West Region, Ghana, now have access to clean and potable water. This achievement was possible due to the collaborative efforts of Calvary Redemption Church, Island International Church, and Barnabas R3, who successfully commissioned two boreholes, one for each community, to alleviate the residents’ thirst for clean water.

The commissioning ceremony, held on May 1st, 2023, was a remarkable event that began in Vamboi. The community’s palpable joy was evident as they received the newly commissioned facility.

In his opening remarks, Apostle George Kwante, the Regional Pastor in-Charge of Upper West explained that the idea of donating boreholes to deprived communities, including Vamboi and Kassana, came about after the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Sissala East District requested the church’s support in providing access to clean and potable water for these communities. Recognizing the urgent need for action due to the dire situation, the church decided to team up with other partners to make the project a reality.

Bishop Dr. Emmanuel Amoah, the founder of Calvary Redemption Church, reminded the beneficiaries of the importance of faith in God, urging them to put their trust in Him and allow Him to guide their decisions. He reiterated that the drilling of the borehole was God’s way of showing love and concern for His people.

The man of God also stressed on some social factors that improves the living standards of a community as he urges them to fairly put in place. “Everybody needs rest no matter how strong you are. And some of the things that helps you to rest is water” , he said.

He therefore, asked for divine protection for the newly commissioned facility as he advised the residents to take good care of it. He further thanked the DCE, the regional Pastor as well as all the stakeholders for their immense contribution to the success of the project.

However, the District Chief Executive for Sissala East, Hon. Fuseini Yakubu Batong, who received the items on behalf of the community, expressed his appreciation to the church and its partners for their benevolence towards his constituents. He also appealed for more collaboration to help address the development needs of the area.

The Chief and elders of the community also expressed their gratitude to the church for such a miraculous gift and hence, asked for God’s blessings upon the ministry.

In Kassana, which has approximately 1,500 inhabitants, the commissioning of the borehole was a significant event as well. The Chief of Kassana expressed his appreciation for the gift of clean water but lamented the poor road network and lack of financial support to cater for the less privileged widows.

To address the widows’ plight, the church made a donation of an undisclosed amount of money to eight (8) widows with four (4) each from Vamboi and Kassana to assist them in meeting some of their needs.

The residents commend the efforts of Calvary Redemption Church, as well as its partners for their kind gesture and hope that this collaboration will continue to help improve the lives of the residents in the Sissala East District.
