The Upper West Regional Hospital According to Dr. Bin Salih Hafiz wouldn’t have been operational without his intervention.

He revealed the development in an interview with Mr. Sayidou Bhomanjo at Radio Upper West on the 18th of July 2022.

According to the Minister, He confronted the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo with request for the Hospital to be completed for use, he added that the president demand for the list of equipment and other resources required for the Hospital to begin operations and in the process he made the list available to the president, he concluded that the president as a result of his demands made provisions for the Hospital to begin operations on the 18th of August 2022.

“I have since communicated to the rightful authorities for the Upper West Hospital to be allocated some cash Capital, it has been in operation for close to 3years now, the hospital has served us well but we keep bringing politics into issues which is affecting our Development, Before the NPP came into power in 2017, we had received an incomplete hospital project from our opponents,I want to state it clear, I have records, before I became a cabinet minister, my first engagement, I tabled and issue before the President, which was about the Upper West Regional Hospital, one of the issues bothering my people is the issue of the Upper West Hospital not in Operation, before I could conclude, he demanded that I get him a list of logistics and resources needed to make the hospital operational, I partnered with the media and the Regional Health Director to have the information at hand after we had visited the hospital, I took the report back to the president and he told me to hold on whilst he invited the Health Minister, after he was invited, he assured that he would engage the contractors involved in order to address our concerns, so I proposed that the president should Commission the facility with the hope that once it is Commissioned, the health ministry will FasTrack processes to equip the facility, the president agreed, I told the health Minister of the president’s intentions to Commission the facility, this engineered the health ministry to speed up the process and on the 18th of August 2019, the president Commissioned the facility.”

The Minster Added Added that he had increased the number of Doctors in the Region Significantly

“When I came in 2019, we had only 6 doctors in the then Wa Regional Hospital but today, we have 23 doctors in the Newly Commissioned Upper West Regional Hospital”.
