UW: Foreign Sex Workers Re-emerge in Wa after Others were Deported

Some Sex Workers Spotted at Maxixco Gardens

In September 2021,  The Upper West Regional Command of Ghana Immigration Service(GIS) went on their usual duty to clamp down on illegal immigrants in the Region.

In their Search,  they spotted some number to unregistered foreigners who were mostly Nigerians at a Night club in Wa-Mangu by name Maxixsco Gardens.

The sex workers were arrested and detained at the Police Station pending investigations,  they were deported in September 2021.
Few weeks after they were deported,  some of them went into hiding with others going undercover at Mangu where they operated in rented rooms. A lady suspected to be one of them was contracted by some tricycle riders and was later stabbed within mangu and Its Environment,  she rushed for help and was spotted bleeding around Mangu.

Several Assembly Members had  Kicked against their Operations within Wa,  these assembly Members include The Kambali Assembly Member,  Hon. Masahudu Adam,  Hon. Sakibu Mohammed,  Assembly Member for Mangu and Assembly Member for Kpaguri,  Hon. Osman Nurideen.

Meanwhile, few weeks ago, some residents within Kambali had complained about harassment by some sex workers based in Maxixco Gardens usually in the Evening,  some others have situated themselves at Odo Hotel in Nakore whilst carryout their activities.

Several Sex Workers for the fear of being deported from Wa after they had been chased from Tamale by the Mayor of Tamale,  Iddrisu Musah had moved to Bole and neighboring areas whilst keeping an eye on Wa in order to relocate.

In October 2017, The Tamale Metropolitan Assembly TMA has given sex workers 21 days ultimatum to stop operating in the metropolis or face prosecution.
