Some Elders of Dorimon Traditional Area

Major Yirimambo was reported Dead on Monday 22nd May 2023 by some Chiefs of Dorimon Traditional Area in the Wa West District.

The Announcement was Made at the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council to the Minister on Tuesday 23rd May 2023.

Major Yirimambo was a member of the New Patriotic Party and Passed on in London the United Kingdom, he was Works and Housing Commissioner of Major Acheampong in 1974 and had an influence in the intitiation of the Wa Bamboi Bridge project before it was Constructed by Dr. Hilla Limann, President of the Third Republic of Ghana.

Political Career

In August 2004, Major (Rtd) Edward Yirimambo was on Saturday unanimously confirmed as the parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the new Wa West constituency for the 2004 elections.

At the close of nominations he was the sole contestant and was unanimously confirmed by popular acclamation by the delegates. Soon after his confirmation, he expressed gratitude for the confidence

reposed in him and promised to unite the people for the development of the area.

He stated that education and health facilities, which had eluded the people for many years, would be his major priorities.

“Before l became a parliamentary candidate I helped my people with a dam and school blocks and I believe that when I become their Member of Parliament I will be in a better position to do more things’ he said.

Major Yirimambo said he would do his best to develop all the tourist potentials at Wechiau and its surrounding area to generate more revenue for development.

He advised members of the party against utterances, which could undermine peace, freedom and development. Mr lbrahim Tamah, Deputy Upper West

Regional Secretary of the NPP, warned the electorates against selling their conscience for monetary gain.

“What we put into our mouths today will soon pass out but we should put up structures that will benefit generations to come,’ he said. Alhaji Abudulai Issahaku, Regional Chairman, said the NPP was not the property of individuals and urged the members to accommodate each other. Major Yirimambo later presented a Mitsubishi Puck-Up, 20 bicycles, six motorbikes, two mobile phones and T-shirts estimated at 210 million cedis to the constituency campaign team.
