UW: New Date for Completion of Youth Resource Center Announced

The National Youth Authority has indicated that the Wa Youth Resource Center Named BK Adams Youth Resource Center will be completed before 2023.

The Minister for Youth and Sports Mr. Mustapha Ussif and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Youth Authority, Hon.Pius Enam Hadzide yesterday 22nd August 2022 were on hand to welcome the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to the D. K. Adama Youth Resource Centre at Wa as part of his Excellency’s three day tour in the Upper West Region.

The President’s visit was to inspect the progress of work on the ongoing construction of the Youth Resource Centre by the National Youth Authority.

Mr. Hadzide briefed Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo on the progress of work at the D.K. Adama Youth Resource Centre which is one of the 10 Resource Centers being constructed across the country.

The Project Consultant, represented by Architect Emmanuel Fobie Asabre noted 98 percent work done of the first phase has been completed whiles the second phase which is ongoing is at 30% of completion level. He assured the President that, with the renewed energy from the NYA, all things being equal the entire project will be completed and handover by end of this year.

Nana Akufo Addo commended the CEO of the National Youth Authority for facilitating the construction of the Youth Resource Centers across the country to give safe spaces for youth congregation and youth development.

All Components

The components of the project for the centres include a FIFA standard football pitch; an eight-lane Olympic size running track; four spectator stands including a VIP stand; a tennis court; a multi-purpose court for basketball, volleyball, netball & handball; a gymnasium; a hall for indoor games & activities like table tennis, badminton, draft, ludo, etc.

The centre will also have non-sporting facilities including, mentoring, coaching and counselling sections; ICT hub; business incubation & entrepreneurship hub; a youth clinic; places for convenience and a restaurant.

Other components of the centre at completion will have A Hall of Fame parlour to display local achievers; erection of an outer perimeter and inner perimeter fence walls; entrances & ticketing booths; car park; storm drains; floodlights; scoreboard and spectator seats for the various courts.
