UW: NPP Can “break the eight” with one Condition – Chairman

K.O. Yenge NPP Chairman for Nadowli-Kaleo

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman of the Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency, Mr Kojo Alfred Yengeh, says the NPP will surely “break the eight” if there is unity among the party executives and the party membership in general.

He added that the party will be able to win the Nadowli-Kaleo parliamentary seat with unity and sense of togetherness within the rank and file of the NPP in the constituency.

He said the executives have identified some challenges which led to the loss of the parliamentary seat to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in his constituency in the 2020 general election.

Speaking in an Interview with Info Radio, Mr Yengeh said they have realized that most people have interest in joining the NPP party in his constituency, and said the new executive committee under his leadership will ensure unity within the party so that they can annex the Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency seat.

He said the executive committee, both elected and appointed, will do everything humanly possible for the good of the party to sit on the fence when it is time for parliamentary primaries to unity and togetherness.

“During primaries, we [executive committee] will take our hands off and leave the aspirants to the coordinators and polling station executives for them to choose a parliamentary candidate.

“Whoever is chosen, we will then come together to sell him/her to the constituents,” Mr Yengeh said, reiterating that the executive committee has resolved not to align with any parliamentary candidate.

He said when executives align with candidates and one eventually emerges winner, the vanquished and their followers tend to withdraw support for the elected which breeds disunity, that, his regime is poised to avoid.

Mr Yengeh observed that the NPP party is loved by the people of the Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency but a few skirmishes has always made the party not to win the seat.

He said the executive committee has taken notice of the challenges and will work assiduously towards addressing them in order to annex the seat from the NDC which has since controlled the seat.

Mr Yengeh assured Ghanaians that the current economic woes the country is experiencing following the influx of the COVID-19 pandemic and other global challenges will be over and the economy revamped.
