Road Sign defaced with a Political Sticker in Wa

Election Seasons are where again, It’s always a Norm for some Sympathizers of politicians to place stickers of aspirants on road signs in parts of Upper West Region, most especially Wa Municipality.

Some notable places some of these stickers can be found on road signs are areas with traffic light indicators to draw attention, instead of seeing a road sign notifying one of a development or instruction, a Rider or driver rather sees a politician’s sticker with details of the person’s intent.

Road users have referred to the situation as abhorrent, some road users Including Abass Issah have called for stakeholders Including the Nation Road Safety Commission, Police MTTD and the Municipal Assemblies to Apply swift measures in getting the situation eradicated.

According to Road Traffic Act 2004,(ACT 683)
(1) Where a Traffic Sign
(a) of a prescribed size,
colour and type, or
(b) of another character authorized by the Minister or a road authority has been lawfully placed on or near a road, a person driving a motor vehicle or riding a motor cycle or a bicycle who fails to comply with the indication given by the sign commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding 100 penalty units or to a term of imprisonment not exceeding 6 months or to both.
