Law Express has jointly organized a forum with the Simon Diendong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD-UBIDS).
The programme was to afford the university community including students, lecturers and the general public to appreciate the carrier prospects in Law and to mobilize support for the yet-to-be-mounted law faculty in the University.
The programme had over 600 people from all walk of life including SDD-UBIDS management members such as the VC, Pro- VC, Professors and other lecturers and administrators in attendance.
Other dignitaries include; The High Court Judge, Upper West Region Chapter of the Ghana Bar Association, Senior State Attorney, Political elites, the students, Youth groups and the Media, and the general public were in attendance.
The forum provided participants the opportunity to ask questions, while others sought explanations on legal realms. The team of legal luminaries took turns to address the issues accordingly.
The Chief Executive Officer of Law Express Lawyer Nuhela Seidu stated the forum is to reach out to the university community and the general public on the need to intensify advocacy and mobilize support for the Law Faculty.
She stated ‘‘over time we have seen the need to move away from education and sensitization from Television to actual community engagement on the ground to stimulate and drive the desire to take advantage of education and carrier opportunities and prospects in the law’’.
The Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the SDD-UBIDS Professor Emmanuel K. Derbile indicated that plans are far advanced to mount the law faculty at the University.
He explained that the university has done some preparatory work and is in discussions with the accreditation board for approval to mount the law program.
He added that the university will soon link up with the Ghana Bar Association for human resource support to efficiently carry out the programme.
