Mr. Moomin Mubarik, Upper West Regional Director, NIA
The Upper West Regional Director of National Identification Authority (NIA), Mr. Moomin Mubarik has outlined the necessary measures one has to follow in order to replace a missing Ghana Card or Change some records on it.
Speaking to Upper West Media Team on Friday 14th April 2023, Mr. Mubarik Noted that replacement of a Ghana Card takes a formal process, which requires one to go to the Police Station in order to lay a complain and be given a letter to that effect.
After receiving a letter to that effect, he or she can proceed to the Ghana Card office in his or her district to pay an amount of Gh₵30.50 to a mobile money contact that will be Provided.
A code will be generated afterwards to enable the officer proceed with replacement, Change of Name, Date of Birth etc.
“…there has been an adjustment to the figures, you’ll need to pay Gh₵30.50 for Replacement of a card of Change of Name..”
Mr. Mubarik didn’t state when printing of new cards will begin.
“We can’t tell when the Opportunity will be given for new registration, when the time is due, we shall Inform you..”
Some group of people have alleged that the National Identification Authority charges Ghc100 to replace cards, a narrative debunked by the authority.
