Branch elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ended on the 8th of August 2022, Paving way for Constituency Elections slated to take place in September.
The race is on to elect a new secretary for the Wa East Constituency after demise of an Incumbent secretary of the Area by Name Kuri Suglo, he passed on Sunday, 29th November 2020.
He was Assembly Member for Jeyiri before his demise.
Currently, two people are in the Race battling for the slot of Secretary.
Mr. Yakubu Jendaw and Mr. Suleman Bawa have Declared their intentions publicly.
Statement from Yakubu Jendaw
OFFICIAL DECLARATION OF INTENTION
After several engagements and consultations with my family,my party’s branch executives across the Wa East constituency,the Member of Parliament for the constituency,former government appointees from the constituency, current and former constituency executives, regional and some national executives of the party, I have decided to put myself up to contest the Position of Constituency Secretary in Wa East.
Having played various roles in the party such as a former TEIN president at Bagabaga College of Education in Tamale,a member of the party’s communications Team since 2010,a member of the regional and constituency youth working committee since 2014 amongst other roles see myself as ripe enough to contest for the constituency secretary.
If elected,I will you ensure we have a more united and formidable party for the task ahead in 2024.
As secretary,I will always ensure the views and welfare of all party members within the constituency at all times are protected and not restricted.
I want to once again assure leadership of my party that I will engage in an issue based campaign devoid of name calling,insults,acrimony and personal vendetta

From SULEMAN BAWA CHAGGU-NAA known by many in the political circle as BAWABILE, I say Special greetings to you, the good people of Wa East Constituency, especially, Comrades from the umbrella fraternity. As our great party; the National Democratic Congress started restructuring its integral organs as part of its preparation towards wrestling power from the governing New Patriotic Party come 2024, I wish to use this opportunity and medium to declare my humble intent of participating in the process afte a thorough consultation with relevant stakeholders of the party.
