The Upper West Region Currently Leads Six Regions out of the 16 Regions in the Country with Number for PhD Holders in the Country.
This is according to the 2021 Population and housing census data put together by the Ghana statistical service(GSS).
The Upper West Region Leads Regions including Bono East Region, Western North Region, Ahafo Region, Oti Region, North East Region and Savannah Region in the tally. The Savannah Region has the least number of PhD Holders in the country with 91 people having a PhD certification from the Region.
The Upper West Region has 516 PhD Holders based on the Records of the Statistical Service.
Other Regions with More PhD holders compared to Upper West Region are Upper East Region with 565, Bono Region with 774, Volta Region with 975, Western Region with 1448, Eastern 1485, Northern 1663, Central 3788, Ashanti, 5157 and Greater Accra with 11, 454.
Greater Accra Recorded the Highest Number of PhD Holders in the Country.
Without Records of Ashanti Region and Central Region, The Greater Accra Region has more PhD Holders compared to the Rest of the 13 Regions.
A PhD certificate is a research Masters Degree Higher than a Master of Philosophy Certification, it is offered after one has obtained his or her second degree.
