Kofi Asare

The Chief Executive Officer of Africa Education Watch, Mr. Kofi Asare has bemoaned the rate at which girls drop out of school or fail to access education due to absence of Desks and books for teaching and Learning.

In a statement he issued on Tuesday 9th May 2023, he revealed that the menace can be addressed if the Ministry of Education Headed by Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum is willing to Invest Ghc200 million I to provision of Furniture.

Yesterday, at the STAR-Ghana Foundation learning event, our partners in the Upper West confirmed that the lack of desks & exercise books kept girls out of school.

About 500k girls are not in school, with over 1 million in-school girls without desks, causing dropouts, as they are not comfortable  lying on the floor.

The government must announce an immediate, deliberate response to the desk deficit. At least, some 500,000 desks can hep mitigate the situation this year; Thats only GHC 200 million, and i know we have the money. Let’s do it! Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.
