Wee-North at Dr Hilla Limann Technical University

The Vice Chancellor of DHLTU, Prof. Elias N.K. Sowley, on May 30, 2023, received a delegation from Wee-North Project Ghana in his office.

The Field Manager of Wee-North Project Ghana, Dr. Nancy Dross, who led the team, indicated that the purpose of the visit was to review the training programmes implemented by Wee-North Project Ghana in collaboration with DHLTU.

She said that Wee-North Project Ghana in collaboration with DHLTU had trained forty (40) girls in Electrical installation and that some of the girls participated in the Energy Commission assessment examinations and have been certified for domestic installations whereas others have been certified for commercial installations.

Dr. Nancy Dross also, used the opportunity to introduce the new Regional Field Officer of Wee-North Project Ghana for Upper West, Mr. Cephas Apaliya to Management of DHLTU.

The Vice Chancellor of DHLTU, Prof. Elias N.K. Sowley, expressed his delight about the partnership with Wee-North Project Ghana. He said the desire by Wee-North to empower determined and inspiring young women was commendable.

Prof. Sowley said that he wish to see some of the girls who have graduated from the Electrical installation training at DHLTU, enroll in the HND Electrical/Electronics Engineering Programme.

Wee-North Project Ghana is funded by the Global Affairs Canada. The project seeks to do away with gender inequalities by empowering females who are willing to join the workforce as agricultural mechanics, welders, electricians inter alia.

The team later inspected the ultra modern Amatrol laboratory of the University.
