Several People have struggled to get the Ghana Card in parts of Upper West Region due to reasons including:

The Need to use it at the Bank as an identifier in place of other identity cards such as the voter Identity cards, banks had initially given a deadline of 1st June for all accounts to be registered with the Ghana Card.

Secondly, the need to use the Ghana Card for registration of Sim Cards: one has to use the Ghana Card for his or her sim registration, previously, the deadline was 31st July 2022 till the Ministry of Communication Extended the Deadline to End of September 2022.

Several People have gone to the Upper West Regional Office of Ghana Revenue Authority(GRA) to queue for days in order to be able to get the Ghana Card. There is also an Office of National Identification Authority(NIA) at Ministries Block B, Right Below The Office of Ghana Immigration Service in Wa. Ministries block B is close to the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council(RCC).

An individual can also visit either Nadowli, Jirapa or Nandom to get their Ghana card.

Meanwhile the National Identification Authority has issued a notice that replcement of cards will be put on hold for the time being.
