Principal Wa Community Vocational School, Madam Sophia Wisah Mwengu

The Wa Community Development Vocational Technical Institute was established in 1987 by the Department of Community Development as a Women’s Training Institute with 15 students.

The purpose of the institute was to train women to be able to manage their household correctly and to enhance income generation through self-employment.

The institution however held its second graduation ceremony over the weekend with 160 graduates with the theme ”Technical and vocational training, A panacea to national development.”

The Principal of the institute, Madam Sophia Wisah Mwengu has therefore called on the regional minister Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih to come to their aid financially.

“We wish to Honourably appeal to Government through our regional Minister to provide the institution with some financial assistance to enable us carryout our mandate effectively and efficiently, it will be appreciated if Government comes inn to provide additional classrooms, dormitories for Residents and tutors to improve teaching and learning and also Support the PTA in documentation of the Institution’s land and also to complete the school’s fencing wall being undertaken by the school to eliminate the Incident bod encrochment and unacceptable interruptions from deviants”.

The Principal Touched on Issue of Documenting the School’s Land to prevent encroachment.

“Management is working seriously to get proper documentation for the Institute’s Land area from the Lands Commission being Supported by the PTA”

The Wa Municipal Assembly Was also called upon to assist the school with a storeroom

“It will also be appreciated if the Wa Municipal Assembly can assist with at least one storeroom in the market to the Institute to display and sell artifacts produced by the students”.
