
Information reaching Info Radio indicates the police retrieved two dead bodies from a bush in the Viise area yesterday, April 5, and another two bodies were also retrieved earlier today, April 6, 2023, as a result of an alleged chieftaincy conflict.
It is not clear which communities or people are involved in the conflict, but sources indicate that the conflict is between the Viise and Gudaayiri communities.
Earlier reports indicated that five people died as a result of the conflict but so far, information gathered indicates that four dead bodies have been retrieved by the police. In a similar development, one person is reported to have died at Go also in the Wa East District, and many were injured following a raid by gunmen on the community on Sunday, April 2, 2023.
That attack is also reportedly linked to the chieftaincy conflict in the Viise area. The police declined to comment on the matter when contacted. Also, the Member of Parliament for the area, Dr. Seidu Jasaw, declined to speak to Info Radio and rather referred us back to the police.
The District Chief Executive of the Area, Dr. Ewurah Mahama Kandia is also yet to answer calls placed to him. Meanwhile, the Assembly member for Gudayiri Electoral Area, Mr. Francis Pinto, said the situation has been referred to the Overlord of the Wala Traditional Council, Wa Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, but the spokesperson of the chief could not respond to Info Radio calls placed to him to comment on the development. we will keep you informed as the event unfold in this matter.
