Wa High Court

The Wa High Court has Prosecuted Salifu Haruna for Manslaughter Contrary to Section 46 of the Criminal Offenses Act 1960(Act 29).

He Caused the Death of a 20-Year Old Man by name Isaaka Mahmoud aged 20-Years by inflicting cutlass wounds on the Person. The Incident Occured on 19th of February 2020.

Summary Of Facts

The Complainant in this case is a farmer. The accused is also a farmer and lives with his wife Banmaala-Eong Dongseoma now deceased.

The three live in a compound house at Brifoh-Mangbuli. On 30h November, 2021 at about 7:30am a quarrel ensued between accused and deceased over an allegation that the deceased had refused to prepare food for the family for some days.

In the process of the quarrel, accused held deceased’s hands and dragged her from her room. The deceased fell to the ground. A witness in the matter indicates that he separated the accused and the deceased.

The Complainant also indicates that after the above referred quarrel he went out with the accused. The deceased died after the fall. A complaint was lodged at the at the Babile Police Station. The accused who had ran into a nearby bush surrounding their house was pursued and arrested by the Police.

The body of the deceased was conveyed to the Babile Polyclinic where she was pronounced dead by the Medical Officer in charge, Dr. Simon Kabore. Post mortem of the body was performed by the said Medical Officer who gave the cause of death as Severe Head Injury leading To Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

After investigations, the accused person was charged with the offence before the Wa High Court.
