Parent of Gunshot Victim Demands Justice

Father of A 14-Year old Boy whose leg was amputated after he was hit by a stray bullet has expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace in which his son’s predicament is being addressed by the state security.

Ibrahim Hafiz was shot at Goŋo Muni T-Junction by an unidentified Individual during an unrest in Wa on 16th of September 2022, some irate youth besieged shops in the town and took away properties of some foreigners in the town including Igbos, Some of the Youth Went through the Dankpalihi Street where they attacked some spare parts shops.

Father of the Victim, Mr. Ibrahim Salia Firibu in an interview with Joy News expressed his concern regarding the development, he explained that the gunshot on his son was executed by the Police.

Ibrahim Hafiz is a basic 6 Student of Wa Kabanye Model School.

“I didn’t see the perpetuator but I’m sure it’s the Police, the civilians at the scene weren’t with guns, it was the police that arrived later with guns to scare demonstrators away, they tried dispersing the crowd with gunshots”.

An Uncle to Hafiz by Name Dakurah Kobina advocated for an independent investigation.

“Such issues have been far too many, bullets have been misused lately, so I will like them to come inn and investigate it and let us be adequately compensated for this wrong because there are too many of such things happening in the country.”

At least Ghc5,000 has been spent on Medical Bills of the Victim by his Father, a Mason and Mother a Petty Trader in the Wa Market.

The Victim’s Father Appealed for An Educational Scholarship for his son and an Artificial Limb.
