
Price of baked bread has shot up by 25% in parts of Wa Municipality.
The development begun unannounced on 27th of September 2022.
Some bakers who explained the development blamed the surge on hikes in cost of production including, cost of fuel factoring it into transportation, cost of paying human resource and purchasing primary goods such as sugar, margarine, bread flour and gas.
A loaf of tea bread was Ghc4 as at 26th of September 2022 but has shot up by 25% to Ghc5.
Price of bread went up by 100% from Ghc2 to four in the first quarter of 2022.
Meanwhile, checks in Kambali, Mangu has revealed that some bakers have insisted on the old prices until further notice.
Sachet water Producers have also suggested prices can go up in October.
