Farmers In Kunfabiala Worried over High Cost of Farming

Some Crop farmers in Kunfabiala, A Community within the Wa Municipality have expressed worry with the rate at which tractor charges for ploughing is skyrocketing.

In an interview with some Community Farmers by TV3’s Upper West Regional Reporters, some farmers Narrated that a tractor operator used to charge between Ghc120 to Gh150 for a Acre but currently the price per acre has shot up to Ghc200.

Farmers in Kunfabiala plant foods such as Tomatoes, Maize and beans, they have complained of lack of improved seeds, Fertilizer in order to scale up production.

Some female farmers have also complained about the lack of accessible loan firms with low interest rates to take loans for farming.

Farmers have called on government to assist with affordable tractor services and Fertilizer for farming.

Meanwhile the Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih in an Interview at Radio Upper West in July had indicated that more subsized fertilizer have been made available by the government for farmers to buy, he added that shortage of fertilizer won’t be recorded because of the availability of Fertilizer in the open market should incase the subsidized ones are exhausted.
