Wa: Transfer Some Police Officers – Wa Naa to IGP

Secretary to Wa Naa, Jimpenhi Naa Kadri Addressing the Media

The Overlord of the Waala Traditional State, Naa Fuseini Pelpuo IV has called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Akufo Dampare to with a sense of urgency transfer most of the police officers in the region.

In a speech read on his behalf by his secretary Jinpehi Naa Kadiri Ibrahim, he indicated that some of the police officers have overstayed their relevance hence ought to be transferred so as to get an infusion of new officers.

Much as the Overlord of the Waala Traditional State appreciate the interim interventions by the IGP in bringing in some investigators and more uniformed men he believes it came at a time so much harm had already been caused. ‘ Admittedly, however, upon hindsight, one can describe the actions not only as knee-jerk reactions but also, as too little too late’.

Naa Fuseini Pelpuo IV also faulted the IGP for knowing that the Upper West region is a border region yet failed to provide enough men for the region. This he believes the Upper West deserves more uniformed men inorder to have Wa and the Upper West region well protected.

The Wa Naa is also of the firm believe that the interior minister Hon. Ambrose Dery should also ensure that the military in Wa are also given a role to play in search for the perpetrators of the kidnapping and murder as well as combatting it upfront.

While not defending the chaos caused by some youth in the Wa Municipality especially attacking some foreign nationals but he believes it was inevitable.

However, the IGP sought audience with the Overlord of the Waala Traditional State and his elders in camera.
