Wa: We fear Students May Go Missing if Teachers Strike Goes On – Community Elder

Strike of Teachers Affecting Students in Dandafuro

Teachers and Non Teaching Staff of Ghana Education Service have gone on strike since 4th July 2022, according to the Teachers, government has failed to fulfill a demand they made to be payed 20% cost of Living allowance to them amidst economic Hardship.

The Strike has affected students in Wa and Neighboring Districts and in an interview with a guardian at Dandafuro, he expressed dismay with how the students are idling around.

A Parent and community Elder spoke to Upperwestmedia Team, according to Mr. Sumaila Iddrisu
“These children since yesterday have been idling, they don’t go to school and do not go to the farm to to help as well, all they do it move around, it’s really worysome, we have discussed the issue at the Dandafuro Chief’s Palace but we have no formal education on government procedures, it’s strange to us, Government should look into the demands of they teachers, if it’s possible he should meet their demands to facilitate the return of teachers, if these students keep roaming some may get missing.”
