Wa West: DCE To Address issues of Water Crisis in Selected Areas

Madam Vida Diorotey, the District Chief Executive for Wa West District has bemoaned the lack of portable sources of water in some parts of the district and streamlined  steps taken to mitigate the situation.

She said “water is an essential need to human health” but the water situation in some communities in the Wa West District is very lamentable.

Some Communities Depending on Streams for Water

According to her, letters received from some Assembly Members requesting boreholes for their communities indicated that some communities exist without a single borehole.

In an interview with Info Radio, Madam Diorotey noted that she has taken steps to address the water situation in the district.

The DCE disclosed that, following her steps to solve the water problems, Calvary Redemption Church, a Christian religious group has assisted in providing some four communities with boreholes.

The beneficiary community includes, Pieyiri, Vienpketeng, Berinyasi and Nerekuteng.

She noted that the District Assembly has Also undertaken maintenance works on some boreholes in the district.

Madam Dioretey further assured that the National Security was also in the district to provide them with ten boreholes which will help mitigate water challenges in some of the communities.

According to the DCE, the communities to benefit from the National Security Intervention are those along the Black Volta River.
